I was just thinking that it was about time I blog about Avery's swimming. We have been going to ISR lessons for the past five weeks, so it has been a huge part of our summer so far. ISR stands for "Infant Survival Resource" and they teach our babies how to save themselves if they were to ever fall into a pool, lake, etc. Since one set of grandparents have a pool in their backyard - and the others live on a lake, we figured it would be necessary for Avery to learn this. We were warned from the very beginning that it is a huge commitment to get them through the course - but we decided to stick to it. Four mornings a week Avery meets her cousins & her boyfriend for their lessons. We joke around and call it "ten minutes of torture" because the kids hate it. Their is nothing fun about being dunked under water, and forced to learn to float on your back...and from day one Avery has cried through each lesson. However, to keep myself on track, I just keep telling myself 'this could save her life one day'. After five (almost six) weeks of lessons, we are beginning to see the results of the program. Avery has learned to float on her back, and to roll over if she goes in the water face forward. She is working on learning to swim to the side of the pool and pull herself up on the wall also. I have attached a video of today's lesson - so you can see what we have been busy with.
