Thanksgiving with Nana

Every year my mom's (Nana) birthday is right next to Thanksgiving, so we end up celebrating both! This year we visited Nana at her home in Rome, and I baked her favorite cake (homemade wacky-cake with cream cheese frosting). It is an amazing recipe that has been around for years in our family...as you can see Avery loves being a part of birthday parties, and always asks me for cake. (it's the first thing she says when I tell her it's someones' birthday)

Avery had a blast doing artwork with Nana...fingerpaint is her favorite!

This year we had a "second Thanksgiving" on Friday with Nana, Uncle Brian & Natalie. I was excited to host at my house- cook the turkey & use my lovely china (that was my great-grandmother Palma's). We had a nice meal of all our favorite dishes, and a turkey that Clint ended up fixing - which was a good thing. Avery still won't eat most dishes that we make, so she had a few bites of thanksgiving before we made her some chicken & veggies of her own. I'm looking forward to the day that she will eat the same foods as us!
