So, our next step towards becoming a "big girl" was to get rid of Avery's crib and move her into a real bed. We wanted to give her the bed as her 3rd birthday present. To make it extra special for Avery, I allowed her to pick out her own bedding. (side note, I knew I needed safe options that I would be happy with anything she chose so we went to Pottery Barn Kids) We spent the day driving up to the North Georgia Premium Outlets and had a nice mother/daughter afternoon. They have a pottery barn kids outlet up there and they offer all the same cute bedding as the regular stores, for much less. Avery thought it was so cool that she was in charge of this task...and it took her just a few minutes to pick out her special new bedding! I really like it too, its pink/green/white - so no need to repaint her room either, thankfully.
Sunday night she spent her first night in the bed...and it was pretty rough to be honest. She was very excited & nervous, so I had to lay in the bed with her until she fell asleep. The problem was that at 2:30 am when she awoke (alone) she started screaming for us. Daddy was sweet to go rescue her and climb back into bed with her. It took him laying with her to get her back to sleep. Night #2 went much better, no tears, no crying, but at 6:45 am she woke up and calmly got out of her bed, opened her door & walked down the hall into our room. What a surprise that was!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw her standing there. I guess we need to have a talk about not leaving your bedroom, huh.
